INGREDIENTS
  • 4 pork steaks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 250ml tomato ketchup
  • 60ml apple cider vinegar
  • 50g brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
METHOD

  • Prepare the Pork Steaks:
    • Pat the pork steaks dry with kitchen paper.
    • Rub each steak with a little olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  • Make the BBQ Sauce:
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
    • Add the minced garlic and chopped onion. Sauté until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
    • Stir in the tomato ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, chilli powder (if using), black pepper, and salt.
    • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce should thicken slightly.
  • Cook the Pork Steaks:
    • Preheat your grill or a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
    • Place the pork steaks on the grill or in the pan. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 70°C.
    • During the last few minutes of cooking, brush the pork steaks generously with the prepared BBQ sauce.
  • Serve:
    • Remove the pork steaks from the grill or pan and let them rest for a few minutes.
    • Serve the steaks hot, with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
