Yorkshire Frankfurters! How can that be?
Everyone loves Frankfurters (Hot Dogs), the problem is we always get that nagging feeling of wondering what’s actually in it. The Grid Iron Company have solved that problem by producing a traditional Frankfurter made with outdoor reared, Gloucester Old Spot pork from Mount Grace farm in North Yorkshire. Each of our Yorkshire Frankfurters is made by hand using the best pork and natural casings before being lightly smoked over wood chips.
Frankfurters are made all over the world, so why not use some great Yorkshire native breed pork to add that bit of confidence in the quality of what you're eating.
Our pork is from a large herd of Gloucester Old Spot pigs who are free to roam outdoors in their home at Mount Grace farm in North Yorkshire. These native breed pigs grow at a slow pace putting weight on naturally and producing meat with great depth of flavour and a healthy natural fat content. This makes it perfect for producing Yorkshire Frankfurters with the right texture and that all important “snap”. Our Yorkshire Frankfurters are an "emulsion" sausage where the Old Spot pork meat and fat are blended at the right temperature before being filled into natural casings.
Our Franks are made by Artisan charcutiers who care deeply about the quality and consistency of the product and who have brought their wealth of experience, over many decades, to produce an authentic tasting Hot Dog made entirely in the UK.
