Description
Only a handful of people produce traditional, fresh blood black pudding. The rest use imported dried blood powder.
Fresh blood black pudding is so rare you have probably never bought or tasted it before. Ours is a sumptuous mix of fresh blood, oats, pearl barley, onions, fat and spices. Grill or fry….get the outside crunchy and serve.
It’s an International Award Winner and a Great Taste 2014 winner.
Fresh blood black pudding fell out of favour during the BSE crisis when a ban was put on harvesting the blood. It has now become too difficult for the larger producers in the UK to source fresh blood in significant quantities and there is not a UK source of dried blood. Producers now rely on imports of dried blood to make their black puddings.
We are lucky to work with the Fruit Pig Company who have a consistent supply of fresh blood from a local slaughterhouse and so are able to make their black puddings in a traditional way as butchers used to.
Black pudding is great for breakfast and pairs perfectly with eggs. The flavours of the pudding pair well with a variety of different foods, but bacon and black pudding must be a match made in heaven!

This is the best black pudding I have had. It has a great texture and holds together really well. It is highly spiced which I love and is perfect for breakfast. If you have it with things such as scallops it may be too much. Excellent product

If I want a real flavour hit at breakfast I go to Fruit Pig’s Fresh Blood Pudding. There is such depth of flavour in this that it stands up to everything on the fried breakfast plate yet blends so well with it all. My son, who for 30 years said he hated black pudding was instantly converted by this and now, like me, buys it by the stick.

We portioned this up into 3 blocks and froze. Once defrosted, we cut into slices and cooked on the bbq gently along with some of your Cumberland sausages. Fantastic breakfast. We both said that the black pudding was the best we have ever had, and didn’t have that sort of after taste, supermarket ones have. Will certainly be ordering it again

Tasty and for those that like a finer cut of ingredients it would be just perfect.

Lovely rich flavour, quite peppery. Nice crumbly texture but not too much to fall apart when cutting.
