Rachel and Michael George are the visionary founders of From Our Farm. Their journey began in 2017 when they embarked on a mission to transform the beef from their family farm into something exceptional—biltong. While this South African delicacy wasn’t widely known in their corner of the world, Michael had discovered its delicious allure during a visit to South Africa years earlier.
Their biltong-making adventure began with humble beginnings—a homemade dryer fashioned from a plastic storage tub, a bathroom extractor fan, and a simple lightbulb. After tasting the resulting biltong, they knew they had stumbled upon something truly special, something that needed to be shared with the world. This marked the beginning of a twelve-month odyssey to establish the From Our Farm brand, refine their recipes, and transition production from their kitchen to purpose-built premises.
Today, their biltong dryer is a state-of-the-art marvel, a far cry from their experimental setup. From Our Farm takes pride in producing biltong in small, carefully crafted batches, adhering to the same high standards that have been the hallmark of their family’s farming legacy for over four generations.
The George family’s roots in Pembrokeshire date back more than a century, with each generation demonstrating an unwavering commitment to sustainable agriculture. Their dedication to excellence and continuous refinement of farming methods over a century have left an indelible mark on their beef-rearing expertise.
While Rachel and Michael rightfully deserve credit for the delectable taste of their biltong, they acknowledge that the wisdom and traditions passed down through generations have played a significant role in their success. Made from 100% UKGI (PGI) Welsh Beef. As part of the UKGI Welsh Beef scheme, all animals must be born in Wales and reared extensively on natural grass pastures within Wales. All farms must be compliant to recognised farm assurance standards.
